Road To Hell Stock Photo

The road to hell is illustrated in this stock photo of a dirt road leading to the edge of a crater filled with flame and fire from methane gas emissions. The crater is referred to at the "door to hell" or the "Gate to Hell". The crater, the Darvaza crater, is located in a natural gas field near Derweze, Turkmenistan. The crater is actually a sink hole that swallowed a Russian gas drilling rig. The Soviets lit the crater on fire to burn off seeping methane gas. That was back in 1971 and it is still burning.

By emphasizing the dirt road in the foreground of my picture of the "Door to Hell" I created a stock photo that can be used to illustrate the concept of a road to hell, or a journey to Hell as well as a Gate to hell. The image has been crafted to crop well to square, vertical and horizontal while maintaining plenty of copy space for use by headlines and body copy.
