Social media is the topic of this photo depicting five spheres composed of people portraits, spheres that hang in high altitude clouds as a metaphor for various social media issues. Each globe can represent a different tribe, community or fan base. The image, intended for editorial and advertising use, can be cropped in various formats include vertical, horizontal or square while leaving ample copy space. 

Social Media And Spheres Of Influence

Each of the globes depicted in this image can represent a different sphere of influence and how such spheres can affect each other. Having the globes positioned in the clouds adds the element of cloud computing to the photo. Clouds now represent online computing, online archiving and Internet connections while the globes are strong symbols of social networks. 

Portrait Globes Of Model Released Individuals

All of the individuals photographed for these social media portrait globes have signed model releases on file. The portraits include a huge range of ethnic diversity as well as age ranges. The diversity broadens the appeal of the image by virtue of inclusiveness. These portraits were photographed over a period of about seven years and it took about a day of Photoshop work to create the final image. The clouds come from a series of images I photographed out the window of a commercial jetliner on a trip from San Francisco to Cancun Mexico. The portrait photos were shot in the United States, Argentina, Thailand, India, Mexico, and Brazil. 

Portraits, Spheres And Communications Technology

These portrait spheres combine with the cloud imagery to represent future communications technology as well as online communities and networks. The whole image of people spheres hovering in high altitude skies lends the image a futuristic and science fiction flavor that is sure to grab a viewers attention by virtue of its uniqueness and compel the viewer to read the accompanying message.
