Hidden Dangers and Risks Illustrated In A Stock Photo of Underwater Mines

Hidden dangers, risks and adversity are illustrated in this stock photo by a scene of underwater mines tethered to the ocean floor by chains. This is a scene that could be from a World War II submarine movie! It would be virtually impossible for a ship to navigate through this mine-strewn shipping lane in the ocean. This is a picture of challenge and problems and can be a metaphor for business challenges. This picture of a minefield can also be a metaphor for environmental disaster especially in regards to ocean pollution.

Creating Successful Stock Photos of Underwater Mines

I created this stock photo by using a manhole cover in Photoshop to create the mines. Adding light and shadow to small sections of metal created the look of the triggering pins. The chain was an old rusty chain I had lying in the corner of my studio. The water was form an image I shot on a SCUBA diving trip of Cozumel, Mexico.

Underwater Mines, Stock Photos and Succeeding In Stock Photography

One of my rules for succeeding in stock photography is to create a wide range of unusual imagery (and what could me more unusual than an underwater minefield?). Another of my rules is to create dramatic imagery that has a "tension" to it. Again, how much more "tension" can you have than an expanse of ocean filled with high explosives waiting for the slightest contact to erupt in a fatal explosion?
