Skipping Coins Over Water in Slow Motion Video

This super slow motion video clip of a silver dollar coin being skipped across a body of water was captured with a Phantom HD camera at 1900 frames per second. The clip, a motion stock video, is intended to add drama and visual interest to financial, investment and monetary themes that include risk, success and venturing into the unknown. The coin hits the water then skips up followed by a trailing liquid sculpture and finally ebbing ripples in the golden light reflecting on the surface of the water. This clip can be incorporated into a video production, or used as a stand-alone production with a type overlay and/or voice over.

Shooting Financial Themes in Super Slow Motion

The effectiveness of our shoot was greatly enhanced by the GVS 9000 VTR computer that we used to run the Phantom software and to facilitate massive storage, near instant playback, and on the fly file conversion to Quick Time Pro Res clips. We had a bare bones operation that ranged from just two of us to sometimes four of us for each project. For this silver dollar skipping clip Stephanie D. Roeser handled the camera and recording, Tom Penpark served as grip, and I skipped the dollar. OK, Stephanie did one skip and it was one of the best.

Adding Impact and Visual Interest, With Slow Motion Video, To Financially oriented video productions.

Adding Impact and Visual Interest to financially oriented video productions is greatly facilitated with the use of super slow motion. Shooting at 1000 frames per second or greater can reveal things that we have never seen before, such as the fluid sculptures created when objects impact water. Seeing things we have never seen before captures our attention and helps compel us to understand and retain the message being delivered. In this case the video can help provide interest for topics such as venture capital, monetary policies, investments and investment risks, lending, banking and more. Cash flow is another topic that this skipping coin can represent, along with skill, confidence and success.
