A chicken runs down a long country road while wearing running shoes, or tennis shoes, in this funny animal picture and part of John Lund's Animal Antics collection. This chicken isn't interested in crossing the road, he must be training for a marathon! In the distance are some clouds and a mountain range. No traffic can be seen.

Shooting chickens isn't the most fun thing I have ever done.

I don't think I recommend shooting chickens in your studio. They have no pride and poop anywhere! Thankfully I had an assistant who was willing (reluctantly) to clean up the mess! I also had an animal trainer who was at all hesitant to hold the squawking fowl in the positions I need to photograph it. During the same shoot I did create an image of a chicken crossing the road.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

I don't know why it crossed the road, but the chicken did it faster wearing those spiffy running shoes! Have you ever actually seen a chicken crossing the road? Is this bird exercising? Is he or she on a journey. Is the chicken taking a risk by running down the center of the road? Perhaps he or she is showing us the way forward, or just trying to get away from it all. I guess we'll never really know.
