Two hands are coming together, about to shake hands in a symbolic act that shows agreement, teamwork, success and sealing the deal as only a handshake can. The hands are surrounded by light in motion, energetic steaks of color that represent the hectic and chaotic business environment as well as the flow of information, data and communications. The color and the motion, the energy, of the lights infuse this stock photo with impact lacking in so many stock image options. This photograph is an excellent example of an overused symbol shown in a new and exciting way, an effective tool for marketing, promotion and advertising as well as editorial uses. One of the biggest challenges in create stock imagery in these times is coming up with fresh ways of communicating the concepts that transcend time and generations. This picture is an excellent example of success at that endeavor. I might add that this photo also is a strong way of depicting partnership; partnership between business and partnerships between businesses and their customers.

The colorful streaking lights are not the only element used to infuse an age-old symbolic gesture with fresh excitement and energy; the tension and excitement is built-up by having the hands about to touch rather than already engaged and a firm grasp. The agreement has been reached, success has been achieved, and yet there is still that little element of doubt that captures our attention. We want to know more. We want to know the outcome, so we read the headline and the copy to find out. We can't help ourselves! That is one of the dynamics that makes this an important image for communicating business concepts. The photograph, however, does transcend the business world, the image works equally well for lifestyle issues as well.

To insure that this picture of hands shaking can be used for as many possibilities and situations as possible, I crafted the photo to work as a number of different crops. It can be cropped as a vertical for magazine covers, rack brochures (where it can be used to illustrate partnerships between banks and customers), and bus shelter posters, or horizontally for magazine spreads and or billboards. There is plenty of room to add headlines and/or body copy and text. The lights add an element of energy and speed to go along with the anticipation. Add all of those elements together and you have a compelling and impactfull image , something not necessarily easy to accomplish when using a symbolic gesture that has been around so long!
