This young boy was bathing at the "Buffalo Jetty" on the Irawaddy river bank, Myanmar (Burma). One finds people bathing, washing their laundry and clothing and using the river as a latrine all within a few yards of each other. It is amazing that such a lack of knowledge of the ill effects of such poor sanitation practices can exist in this day and age, and yet it does throughout South East Asia. I have seen the same problem in Cambodia, Vietnam, and India. I will say that in my own limited experience Myanmar does seem to be the worst.
