Woman at cafe with ghosted figures
A Woman sits in a cafe with the ghosted figures of friends on either side of her. The ghosted figures can represent missing friends, memories, or lost loved ones. This image is a hybrid concept/lifestyle stock photo. I photographed the woman, and the friends, in a cafe adjoining the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My producer, Paula Zacharias, arranged for us to shoot there, for a trade for photos, with just one days notice! I truly enjoy shooting stock in Argentina. There is far less red-tape and concern over shooting, and most people are more than willing to model. In addition, everything costs about one third of what it would cost to shoot here in the U.S.
Creating special effects images with Photoshop
To create this image I put the camera on a tripod and made an exposure. Then I had the two models flanking the center woman get up and leave. Then I took another exposure. After that it was a simple matter to use Photoshop to paste one of the images on top of the other, then create a layer mask and paint away the image where the center figure was. Then I set the new layer to a reduced opacity finishing the shot.
