Healthy Living And Luxurious Hair Video In Ultra Slow Motion For Stock Footage Licensing

Our model answered an ad we placed in Craigslist. Imagine our delight when she showed up with such beautiful hair! Not only that, we shot her without any makeup which accents our emphasis on natural beauty and healthy living. We captured video not just of her incredibly flowing hair, but also of her splashing water on her face. Viewing the movement of her hair in such slow motion is both mesmerizing and sensuous. We ended up doing similar shoots of three different women. We shot an Asian woman and an Hispanic woman as well. The idea is to facilitate those who are seeking stock video and footage to base a campaign around. To that end we also photographed still images. Our model was easy going and fun and all of us enjoyed the shoot immensely...always a good sign for a stock shoot!

The Phantom HD, A Lot Of Light, And The GVS Systems GVS9000 2XU 444 VTR

GVS Systems is the creator and manufacturer of ruggedized storage systems and other visual arts related computer solutions. They provided us with the GVS9000 2XU 444 VTR which made shooting with the Phantom HD a real pleasure. Fast data transfers and on-the-fly file conversion and color correction made working with the Phantom as easy, maybe even easier, than shooting with a camcorder! The Phantom does required a lot of light for that 1000 frame per second frame rate. For this video clip we used a custom built soft box with five 2000 watt tungsten lights mounted inside, and additional tungsten lights on the background and aimed back at the model. We used compressed air to add to the dynamic flow of the model's hair (one of us was laying down on the floor behind her shooting upwards with the air hose).

Using ultra slow motion stock video for advertising, promotion and editorial purposes

We made the commitment to shoot with the Phantom on speculative stock work because of the limited nature of available slow motion footage. It was a big gamble, but after viewing our results we are glad we made the effort. The entrancing nature of such ultra slow motion can add tremendous visual impact to almost any motion presentation. We found ourselves watch each take over and over again just for the pleasure of seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary!
